Lizzy Bazalgette

I am a Psychotherapist and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and British Psychological Society (BPS). I am studying for a doctorate as a Counselling Psychologist at Regent’s University, London and my research thesis is looking into anxiety.

As a Counselling Psychologist-in-training, I am working under the clinical supervision of Dr Lucy Willetts to develop my clinical skills using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach and to learn how to offer the best in practice support to children and adolescents with anxiety. I am working towards chartership with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC).

My qualifications are:

  • DPsych in Counselling Psychology (year 1), Regents University London
  • Diploma in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy, Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Academy
  • BSc (Hons) Psychology, University College London

What I offer

As a Psychotherapist, I have worked extensively with children and young people at Time to Talk and No5. I have experience with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, sexuality and gender issues, school refusing, sexual assault, self-harm and suicidal ideation. I also have experience of autistic spectrum disorders such as Aspergers.

I particularly enjoy working with children and young people and building a relationship with them which respects and acknowledges their autonomy and supporting them through their difficulties. I am also used to working collaboratively with parents.

As a Psychotherapist, I am trained to work integratively across different approaches such as person-centred and psychodynamic for both adults and children. As a Counselling Psychologist-in-training, I am also studying CBT approaches and at the Newbury Child and Adolescent Clinic, I am working under the clinical supervision of Dr Lucy Willetts.

I aim to create a safe and trusting space where children and adolescents can share what is going for them and in return receive empathic and non-judgemental support from me so that we can work through their problems together.
